Historian, Timothy E. Nelson will briefly share his discovery of Blackdom Oil Co, “the lost decade” and how Blackdomites’ participation in the roaring twenties during the New Negro Movement is significant. It demonstrates how Black peoples’ histories can be disentangled from the infusion of White supremacy as the dominant narrating factor. Leaning heavily on an interdisciplinary approach (Borderland Studies, African Diaspora, U.S. History, and Blacks in the West), Afro-Frontierism functions as a model to focus Black histories on Black peoples from their own perspective at the turn of the twentieth century.

The Roaring 20's in the Afro-Frontier®️ was like nothing you have heard of in the "Wild West." And then, there was the Best Whorehouse in "Little Texas" owned by #MittieMoore Wilson who was also a gunslinger, bootlegger, as well as a Wildcat, and one of the largest landowners of Blackdom.
